Cone-beam computed tomographic analysis of apical transportation and centering ratio of ProTaper and XP-endo Shaper NiTi rotary systems in curved canals: an in vitro study

Abstract Background Cleaning and shaping of the root canal system is an important step endodontic treatment. Canal transportation a common procedural error in preparation curved canals. This study aimed to compare centering ratio two rotary files canals using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Methods Forty-four extracted human mandibular first molars with mature apices 10° 30° apical curvature were selected. The samples randomly divided into groups (n = 22) similar curvature. prepared ProTaper XP-endo Shaper file systems according manufacturers’ instructions. CBCT images obtained Cranex 3D scanner before after preparation, at 3, 4 5 mm levels from apex calculated. Data compared between independent t-test 0.05 level significance. Results Universal caused greater had lower than both mesiodistal buccolingual directions all apex. difference regarding was significant direction ( P < 0.05) except for 3 > 0.05). not Conclusion causes Shaper.
